Vols vs. Panthers Round 2
The Vols roll into Pittsburgh looking for their first big victory under Josh Heupel. The Panthers look to continue the streak against the Vols and hold off the offensive attack.
Pitt last week...
Last week Pitt squeezed out a tough, hard fought victory versus West Virginia. USC transfer Kedon Slovis played well and managed the game.
Tennessee last week...
The Vols didn’t show much other than some depth against the vastly under manned Ball St. The Vols easily put away their opponent with 59 points to 10.
Pitt wants to drive the ball down your throat and methodically wear you down. This is in contrast to the offense you saw last year in Neyland. Kenny P. is in the NFL and Kedon S. is a much different QB. Pitt was 5 of 12 on 3rd downs last week and put up 384 yards against the Mountaineers.
The Vols on the other hand come at you quick and fast. Tennessee wants their opponents chasing the scoreboard all afternoon. Hendon Hooker is the key to the success of this team.
West Virginia was able to put up 400+ yards against the Panthers. Pitt was able to grab 2 key takeaways during the battle. The key stat that needs to carry over for the Panthers this week is only allowing 2 yards per carry. If they do that this week, they will win the game.
The Vols gave up 343 yards to the Cardinals in Neyland Stadium last Thursday night. The Vols were unable to get the QB in the dirt and ended the game without any sacks. Baron and Young have to show up this week. Tennessee pulled 2 picks out of the air and limited Ball St. to 2.7 yards per carry.
Pitt is much more battle tested up to this point. If Pitt leads in the 4th Quarter you have to give the advantage to the home team. Unfortunately for Pitt, we don’t think the Vols will be behind.
